“Design isn’t simply about its visual and sensory aspects. Rather, it encompasses the functionality and effectiveness of how it operates.”
Having a renovation carried out in your home can be an exciting but overwhelming process. Therefore, it is essential to understand the necessary steps required before commencing your project.
The first step in any renovation project is a site meeting with one of our designers to assess and evaluate the current space. This evaluation should include identifying the specific constraints and attributes of the room, taking measurements, determining the scope of the project and formulating a design brief. At this stage, it’s vital to involve one of our experienced designers to help assess the room’s potential, guide the planning process, and ensure that the design proposal will meet your needs and goals.
Once the evaluation of the space is completed, the design process can begin. This is where you as the client can get more involved and have your vision come to life. Our designers will create a design layout proposal based on your preferences, budget and practicality. This step will also involve confirming the general layout configuration, style and mood of the proposed space.
After the preliminary design has been approved by you, we can then progress to step 2, the selection process.
At Caracalla, we pride ourselves on being a tightly-knit team of highly skilled professionals in the field of design, construction, and trades. Right from the start to the finish of your project, we work in tandem to ensure a seamless and efficient renovation process. Our designers liaise with the site construction manager from the get-go, even before the preliminary designs are completed. This ensures that when the actual renovation work commences, everyone involved is already well-informed and thoroughly understands what is required. This is what sets us apart – the Caracalla difference.
After the design phase, the next step is to select materials and finishes that will bring your vision to life. This step can be both exciting and daunting, as there are countless options available for every aspect of your bathroom or kitchen project.
At this stage, it’s crucial to work closely with one of our experienced designers to select materials that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. For example, in a bathroom, the selection process would include choosing tiles, fixtures, lighting, and cabinetry. In the kitchen, it would include selecting benchtop materials, cabinetry, splashback, tapware, flooring and appliances.
It’s important to take your time with the selection process and prioritise what matters most to you. You’ll want to consider a variety of factors, such as durability, ease of maintenance, style, and budget. Your designer will also be able to provide you with material samples to help visualise how different materials and finishes will look in your space.
Once you’ve made your selections, your designer will then prepare the final revised design layout proposal based on your choices. These will be the final production design layouts, so it’s important to review them carefully and ask any questions you may have before moving on to the next stage of the process, Step 3 the creation.
“We are not a retailer, therefore” we don’t sell any particular products, so our priority is to help you find the right products for your project. We have a vast network of product suppliers throughout Sydney, which allows us to match you with the perfect supplier for your specific needs.”
“At Caracalla, we don’t mark up any of your product selections. Instead, we pass on our trade discounts directly to you, which is what sets us apart and makes the Caracalla difference.”
It’s time to make things happen. This step involves turning the completed designs from Step 1 combined with your selections from Step 2 into a physical reality. Once all your designs and selections have been finalised you will be allocated a site construction supervisor.
To begin with, your construction supervisor will work closely with your designer to ensure their visions align and to discuss any potential issues or challenges that may arise during the construction phase. This relationship between designer and builder is extremely important, as it ensures that the final product is not only aesthetically pleasing but also structurally sound.
During this stage, the most significant work is done – walls are taken out, old fixtures removed, and new ones are installed, electrical wiring, and plumbing are rerouted, and so on – all according to the design plan. Our tradespeople and builders, along with the designers will work methodically while collaborating with each other at every stage so that everything aligns with your plan and vision.
Ultimately it’s the close relationships we build between you as the client, our tradespeople and our designers, that makes Caracalla design and renovation stand apart from its competitors, allowing us to create spectacular spaces in people’s homes through our unique construction process that makes every renovation run smoothly, and methodically from start to finish.
